1994 – Yassar Arafat, Shimon Peres and Yitzak Rabin

Arafat was Cairo-born with Palestinian roots.

Peres’ family moved to Israel from Poland to escape anti-Jews.

And Rabin was born in Jerusalem and trained in Britain and the U.S.

Rabin’s military prowess led him to become Israel’s Prime Minister,

While Peres worked in politics and became his Foreign Minister.

Arafat was the wild card:  surrounded by factionalized brutes,

He travelled much, garnering terrorist accolades:

His “most enduring legacy- the rise of modern terrorism.”

All three met in Oslo where an “Accord” was discussed and made,

A plan yielding land to Palestinians and a working truce.

Rabin was killed by a gun-carrying Jewish nationalist.

Arafat died after two years of Israeli house arrest.

Peres continued efforts for Peace and a two-state solution

As Prime Minister and later President of the young Israeli nation.

I'm a writer and poet, also an American attorney. I live and work in Norway. I enjoy a part-time consulting practice while I appreciate having the time to write poetry and non-fiction, travel, paint and draw. I love nature, writing, cultural touring, and photography, and hope to publish these poems one day as a book.
