Today is July 22, 2024 in Norway. Remembering the horrific tragedies of this day in 2011, we were all, here, devastated emotionally, psychologicially and rationally. How could anyone seek to harm so many innocents – and for a cause that was/is so inhumane and cruel – and with such guileless alacrity and evil intent.

Here’s a poem I wrote a month of two after the July 22, 2011 date – at a time when most questions were not at all resolved, and all Norwegians, it seemed, shared in the same constant fresh pain and anguish of the loss of so many. It’s based on a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson entitled “The Lady of Shallot.”
